Richter Gedeon Nyrt. is a Hungarian multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company based in Budapest, Hungary. It is one of the largest companies in the sector in the central and eastern European region and operates in more than 40 countries.
The company offers products for Gynecology, Central Nervous System and Heart Diseases among other therapeutic areas. The company was founded in Budapest by Gedeon Richter, a pharmacist, in 1901. The establishment of his business marked the beginning of the development of the Hungarian pharmaceutical industry.
The company currently has two factories: the headquarters in Budapest and a subsidiary in Dorog operating since 1967. In October 2010, Gedeon Richter Plc bought the Swiss pharmaceutical company Preglem and in 2017 it bought Finox Biotech, a Swiss biotech company, with the aim of pioneering the field of Infertility and Gynecology.
